When I started breathwork, it was simply to help me heal some patterns I had with food and body image issues that I didn’t want to pass on to my granddaughter. Little did I know it would mean so much more! Did you know that breathwork affects the heart in so many ways!
1. In the literal physical heart, breathwork supports cardiovascular health and the physical body! It also provides you with abs of steel in just 15 minutes a day, as long as you’re not sitting there eating Cheetos and candy for the other 23 hours and 45 minutes! It also helps in tremendous ways with menopause. I’m speaking from experience! Ask me, and I’ll be happy to share what I’ve noticed in that specific area.
2. In the emotional heart, which is the center of emotions, breathwork helps release stored emotional pain, stress, or trauma. I cannot express the amount of healing that happened within my body, and the trauma that was released in just my first breathwork practice. Years of emotional pain just melted away. Healing isn’t a one-time event either. It’s an incredible way to let go of stress and anxiety from each day.
3. In the energetic heart, which is the energy center that governs love, connection, and compassion, breathwork greatly deepens those feelings. Mmmm hmmmm. I’m so in love with life and all the amazing beauty I see in the world around me. I’m in awe of all the amazing humans I get to share my life with.
4. In the mental heart, which connects to your thoughts, breathwork can bring calm, help silence brain chatter, and increase clarity and focus. No more chatter of the mind! It’s amazing! Being able to fall asleep without the constant brain chatter has been a huge blessing.
5. In the spiritual heart, breathwork is used to open pathways to higher consciousness and spiritual growth. I have never had a deeper one-on-one connection with my Creator. It has been so beautiful to connect in that way and hear the little whispers from within about how loved I am. Just as I am. No strings attached. Period. Filled with gratitude for that relationship.
I never imagined all the ways breathwork would change my life and the benefits I’d receive from it. I feel healthier, more balanced, more loving, more kind, more forgiving of others and myself. I feel more confident in my own skin and less in need of approval from others. No need for comparison as each of us has our own gifts to bring to the world. I value myself. Know my worth. I’ve set boundaries and protect myself from people who rob me of my joy. I am excited about serving others and helping them find this healing for themselves, and I cherish holding space for people. I recently heard this quote, “I just want to be a drop that reflects God’s love.” This is my desire. What our world could be if we all adopted this quote as our own mission.
